U.S.A. Lawyer Indicted in Sri Lanka

For the first time a warrant for the arrest of a U.S. Lawyer has been issued in Sri Lanka. Sworn Affidavits and other documents from the Consulate Office of Sri Lanka in Los Angeles under the then Consul General Hon. Ambassador H.K.J.R. Bandara show that Attorney Bruce Guttman was served his summons which is punishable under the penal code of Sri Lanka [documents].

Two documents of
issuance of warrant for arrest in English and Sinhala can be viewed here that indicate that Bruce Guttman will be arrested if he steps foot in the island of Sri Lanka which is known to most as one the countries that was devastated by the South Asia Tsunami of 2004.

Attorney Bruce Guttman is recorded by official court reporter, Helen Lee stating that Sri Lanka is a 4th World Country... and that he would need 2 of his own body guards in order to go to Sri Lanka (pages 3 and 4). The
full transcript can be downloaded. Early this week LANKPOD obtained an interview with Bruce Guttman where he stated that he new nothing about the criminal indictment and nothing has been served on him. An unknown source is said to have video and photographic proof to the contrary although this has yet to be confirmed.

Mr. Guttman's case is to be heard on February 26th, 2008 in Sri Lanka. Bruce Guttman was replaced by Attorney Paul Bloom who is another one of Dr. Jayasinghe's long term attorneys. If convicted Guttman faces a jail sentence in Sri Lanka; boy what type of body guards will he need then and how long will he last with the secrets he holds can only be speculated upon.

According to a anonymous source known only by the name of "Macleland" there are connections between the Board of Directors of Seylan Bank, Dr. Walter Jayasinghe and Bruce Guttman. It seems as if Bruce Guttman has become another pawn under Dr. Walter Jayasinghe IMHO. Apparently an investigation into the links of Dr. Walter Jayasinghe and Aeshea Jayasinghe are under way but not confirmed.

Angela Mendoza sues Dr. Walter Jayasinghe

How many Sri Lankans have been fired and let go by Dr. Walter Jayasinghe was the first question that ran across my mind as I read the complaint filed by Ms. Mendoza on 12/12/2007. Case #BC382100 (you can find the details by clicking here). I will also be posting the entire complaint in pdf format as soon as I can obtain some funds to pay for it. In the compliant Ms. Mendoza alleges that she worked for Dr. Jayasinghe since 2002 and she was paid by various organization/entities owned by Dr. Walter Jayasinghe stating "...at the whim of defendant Jayasinghe, individually, dependent on cash flow and other unknown factors."

Ms. Mendoza also alleges that she was fired one week after she informed Dr. Jayasinghe of her pregnancy. Furthermore Ms. Mendoza also alleges that Dr. Jayasinghe made and oral contract with her. Seems like Dr. Jayasinghe loves oral contracts. I wonder why it is so difficult for him to sign a contract?

The complaint also quotes
Dilan/Delon Jayasinghe the son of Dr. Jayasinghe, stating "YOUR PREGNANT" "YOU CAN'T WORK HERE". Looks like a chip off the old block. Others even feel that Delon (Jayasinghe, Jayasinha - he changes his name frequently) is even more dangerous than his father. I for one has witnessed Dr. Jayasinghe lecturing Delon on ethics. Imagine that.

So how many Sri Lankan women have been fired in the is manner is the question at hand? and how many workers have been let go after all the verbal abuse and other types of abuse inflicted by Dr. Jayasinghe?

And if you ask around you might find out the circumstances of
Ms. Shirani Stanislaus in the cycle of firing/laying off employees. Even more interesting is how she obtained the position she has now in all of Dr. Jayasinghe's entities.
